Breathe on me, Breath of God. Fill me with life anew.

Breathe on me, Breath of God. Fill me with life anew.

“When He [Jesus] had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord, so Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’

“And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.'” ~ John 20:20-22

Lord, I love You. I have wrestled so much this week. Thank You for being my anchor. Thank You for being my peace.

I think of Your disciples on the day You died. They knew what they believed to the best they could understand, but then You died. Their confusion must have been horrific. Unlike us, they had not experienced faith yet — believing those things not seen as though they were — so they must have been confused.

But Lord, You are not a god of confusion — You are a God of peace! And You gave them Your blessing of peace that day. Just like You give to us. Thank You.

In Your resurrected state, the disciples began to believe what their minds could not comprehend because You revealed Yourself to them. I take such joy in that Lord. You do the same for us. In our darkest moments You draw near and reveal Your presence to us. Thank You.

Breathe on us Lord. Breathe on us new life, Your hope, Your peace, Your purpose. Breathe on us renewed strength to do Your will and to be Your people. May we never take this new life for granted for we carry the very breath of the Living God within us.

What a gift! What a treasure. May we cherish You always and seek You with all our hearts.

Thank You for being who You say You are. You are faithful and True. Your mercy is from everlasting to everlasting. And You hold us — Your children — within Your heart every moment of every day. Thank You for making a way for us to know You.

We love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ Name I pray,

Amen

Have you read Faith Notes ~ Pamela McCormick: God, I’m Not Worthy yet?

Pamela McCormick clings to the hem of His garment as He heals and restores her life. The Lord teaches her she is worthy of His love. It’s not easy. In fact, it’s very hard, but above all, she wants her life to glorify God.

Take this for example. Pam wrote this to me when we were discussing featuring her story on Faith Notes, “It wasn’t about me finding me. It was about finding our God. The brokenness helped me love others more like Christ loved on me. God be praised.

“He’s a great teacher. I always questioned God, ‘Why?’ Now I know that it was so I could be a light in the darkness for others and tell them of the hope that is alive and is for them too.

“I look for other people who have been hurt. There are so many. I hurt, because they hurt. I’m not the only one that’s hiding. Looking to Jesus to show me my next steps. He knows.”

What an amazing heart this powerful woman of God embodies! She is remarkable.

I can tell you this was not easy for Pam, but it’s because she wants to help others that she is willing to open the pages of her life.
