This is a time to overflow with kindness.

“But instead be kind and affectionate toward one another, overflow with kindness. Has God graciously forgiven you? Then graciously forgive one another in the depths of Christ’s love.” ~ Ephesians 4:32, TPT, paraphrased

“You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. Tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity.” ~ Colossians 3:12-14, TPT

Overflow With Kindness … But How?

Lord, I love You so much and my greatest desire is to honor You — to glorify You in my life. I want to overflow with kindness, to take Your love into a hurting world, but Lord … some days my flesh is just plain rotten!

I know it. I recognize the attitude simmering just below the surface, but instead of bringing it under Your Lordship, I let it hide in the shadows until something sets me off and it boils over.

Help me overflow with kindness, Lord.

Forgive me, Lord. I want to be more like You. Sanctification is hard work! Dying to self is not pleasant … but, then again, dying for our sins was not pleasant either, was it, Lord?

But You did it. You died so I could live. I could live free of sin, free of bad attitudes, free from chains that keep me from being all I can be for You.

Of all the fruits of the Spirit You have placed within me, perhaps kindness is the one needed most right now. People can be so difficult! Help me see others as You see them. Help me love them as You love them.

Help me overflow with kindness — a kindness that will set them free from the chains that bind them, just as You set me free through Your love.

Thank You for Your grace that blesses me with all I need to live well in this world. Thank You for Your mercy that understands when my flesh smells rotten and then You gently correct me.

Search My Heart, Lord

That’s the kindness I want to extend to others — an overflow of kindness flowing naturally from my love for You.

You are such a good, good Father. Thank You for Your long-suffering with me.

In the Name of Jesus I pray,

Amen — let it be so
