At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You,

“At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You,
Because of Your righteous judgments.” ~ Psalm 119:62, NKJV

“Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” ~ Isaiah 58:8, NKJV

The Dawn Will Always Follow the Midnight

Lord, great is Your faithfulness! Your mercies are new every morning, Your love endures forever. The dark of midnight shrouds me as I wait for the dawn — as I wait for You.

I know You have heard my cry.

In the midnight hour of a very long night, I catch glimpses of Your light

I know You are responding, even if I can’t see the evidence. I know it by faith.

And yet my flesh grows impatient. My thoughts grow restless and full of imaginations not of You.

Help me cast them down as I wait.

Help me bring my thoughts captive to You.

I yearn for a reprieve from difficulty. I long for a good night’s sleep. Hold me, Lord. Draw me close.

In the midnight hour of a very long night, I catch glimpses of Your light — reminders of Your abiding Presence. Like the stars dotting the ebony sky, I see You and I am comforted.

God Will Do What He Says He Will Do

For You are a good God. I can depend on You to be who You say You are, to do what You say You will do. And I thank You. I will trust You while I wait for the morning light. Bless You, Lord.

In the Name of Jesus I pray,

Amen — let it be so
