We must let the peace of God rule in our hearts.

“Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].” ~ Colossians 3;15, AMP

How to Let the Peace of God Rule in Our Hearts

O Lord, how restless are my thoughts, how troubled is my heart! I’m trying really hard to let the peace of God rule in my heart, but it’s hard.

Trouble surrounds. Chaos abounds. Flaming arrows are thrust at Your children from the relentless assaults of the evil one.

But I am reminded YOU are Jehovah-Shalom — the Lord my Peace. And Your Holy Spirit dwells within me. Therefore Your peace is available to me at all times. I need only to accept it — to LET it rule in my heart over the maddening circumstances of this world.

I'm learning to let the peace of God rule in my heart.

Let. That’s the operative word, isn’t it, Lord?

Some days I would much rather fume and complain and wallow in my frustrations than to rest in You — to be still and cease my striving, to remember that You are God.

I would rather cast my eyes on the chaos and difficult circumstances than to let the peace of God rule in my heart.

Your peace is a gift to me. Your peace is what will lift me up on wings as an eagle high above the fray as I wait on You, rest in You, think of all Your wonderful works and ways. Your peace will rule in my heart when my eyes are stayed on You.

Peace. I long for Your peace. Cause it to flow over and through my broken places. Cause it to extinguish my anguish and fear of an uncertain future. Your peace, Lord. Not as the world gives, but as You give so freely.

I choose to walk in Your ways. I choose to focus on You and not my circumstances, or the condition of this crazy world.

I Will Let the Peace of God Rule in My Heart

And on those days that the strength of my heart fails, I will open my eyes to see Your hands stretched out in front of me holding a beautiful gift wrapped in pearlescent paper and golden ribbon — Your gift of peace. And I will take it from Your hands and apply it to my heart.

And then I will let the peace of the Lord rule in my heart and I will rest in You.

In Jesus’s Name I pray,

Amen — let it be so
