With God’s love it is possible to love even the unlovelies.
“Love covers and overwhelms all transgressions [forgiving and overlooking another’s faults].” ~ Proverbs 10:12, AMP
Lord, You are the very essence of love — a love that our human frailty cannot comprehend. Yet Your Spirit dwells within us and lays your love at our fingertips giving us the capacity to love in all circumstances. I want to walk in love — to honor You by how I treat others.
But sometimes it is so hard.
It’s hard to choose love when evil abounds and injustice pierces my heart.
But in Your strength — and Your strength alone — I choose love.
Make it so, Lord.
With Your love as my pathfinder I can endure all things, believe all things, and hope all things. With Your love as my light in the darkness I will remember that You are God and not me.
I want You to be Lord of my life! Lord over my emotions, my attitudes, and my behavior. I want others to see You in me and be drawn to Your goodness and be transformed by Your love.
It’s not about me Lord … it’s not! Thank You for the reminder.
I pray for others who desire to love the unlovelies, but face that very challenge. Open their spiritual eyes to see the work of the enemy. Remind them that we do not wrestle with flesh and blood but with principalities of darkness.
How easily we forget! How easily we make our challenges all about ourselves when You give us a better way. Please forgive us.
Help us see others through Your eyes. Help us remember that “by the grace of God go I” — that everyone has a story. Stir up compassion within us. Soften our hearts to be pliable in Your hands that You might mold us into vessels of honor for You.
Lord, I ask that You pour out Your grace on those of us who choose to love the unlovelies, not for our sake, but for Yours … Your purpose. Your plans.
Perhaps in our loving them, they will come to know You more.
Strengthen our resolve Lord and help us hold up the shield of faith when our arms become weary.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
