“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on shifting sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” ~ Matthew 7:24-27, NLT
“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].” ~ 1 Corinthians 15:58, AMP
Jesus Calls to Us When We are Surrounded by Shifting Sand
Lord, You are my sure place, my refuge in the storm, my anchor that holds. How amazing is this Truth! When all around me is shifting sand, I can stand because You are my Rock.
I cling to Your faithfulness in these perilous days. On Your Rock I am high and lifted up, high above the enemy of my soul. When things I have relied on have become as shifting sand, I look to You. — I hear You call my name.
You are steadfast.
But sometimes, Lord, I take my eyes off You.

My knees become wobbly and buckle beneath the stress, my heart begins to race.
The ground beneath me becomes as shifting sand … or at least, that’s how it feels.
But Lord, that is the key, right? It FEELS like things are crumbling around me, but that is a lie of the enemy.
Truth says You are my strong foundation, the solid Rock on which I stand.
Truth says You are fierce in Your protection of me. You are tender in Your care.
And Truth says the good work You have begun in me, You will be faithful to complete it.
On You I can fully rely and depend.
Remind Us, Lord, That You Lift Us High Upon the Rock, Safe From the Shifting Sand
Lord, on those days that I am weak in the battles, I ask that You be my strength. Remind me who I am and where I stand — high above the fray upon You, my Rock. Remind me that things are not always as they seem, especially things of faith. I choose faith. I choose You.
And when all around me is shifting sand I choose to look into Your beautiful face and stand.
In Jesus’s Name I pray,
Amen — let it be so
