A Prayer When You Need to Take His Hand, Walk, and Trust

“If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.” ~ Psalm 139:8-10

Lord, You shine as the noonday sun lighting my darkness. You are the Morning Star, the Waymaker, the Faithful God who tenderly watches over me.

I praise You for these truths, Lord. I praise You for Your goodness, for being my Sure Place to hold onto when the earth trembles beneath me.

Thank You Lord.

Sometimes, I feel like my feet are encased in concrete — heavy-laden, unable to move forward.

Stuck.

Is it fear, Lord? Complacency? Confusion? You are not a god of confusion, but the God of peace. You lead us by Your peace.

Make me brave, Lord. Help me surrender all my cares to You, releasing them so my hands are free to take hold of Yours. Lead me in Your paths of righteousness where I might please You and draw closer to Your throne.

Lead me beside the still waters where I can find rest from the crazy, rest from my anxieties, rest from the failures that taunt me.

Lead me in Your truth for Your Name’s sake where I may step into Your footprints to discover and accomplish Your purposes for my life.

I know my greatest purpose is to know You — not to do, but to be — be Your child, be Your ambassador, be Your hands and feet over the course of the day.

Maybe that’s where You’re leading all of us, Lord. We’re looking for some super highway to descend from heaven and lay before us to make our paths straight and sure.

But You’re leading us just “to be.” Be with You. Be in You. Holding Your hand and leading us step by step.

Nothing grandiose about it.

Not complicated.

Just be.

Standing beside You facing each new day, taking each step together, for Your glory. For Your Name’s sake.

According to Your Word.

Bless the Name of the Lord.
