Waiting for the Rising Sun, for Surely it Would Rise

A song stirred within me as I sat in the quiet of early morning, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone … ” Wiping a tear, I looked toward the east, waiting for the rising sun, for surely it would rise.

As certain as the rising sun is God’s faithfulness to me. So why do I worry? Why do I fret? Why do I allow the things of earth to steal my joy and trouble my soul?

The Sharp Contrast Did Not Go Unnoticed

A loud chirp outside my window caught my attention. It rang out loud and joyful as a cardinal feasted at the bird feeder. Its crimson feathers stood bright against the soft light of morning. The sharp contrast did not go unnoticed: loud/quiet, bright/soft.

My thoughts drifted to Jesus, my living hope — hope against all odds, peace in the chaos, joy in the sorrow.

What is hope? It’s been said that hope is the confident expectation with solid certainty that the Lord hears us and responds to our needs. My hope doesn’t wish — my hope expects and finds rest in the knowledge that I am not alone in the difficult place.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

And neither are you.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Seek Him with all your heart and He will be found by you. His arms await His child.

The cardinal flew to the old apple tree filled with blossoms awaiting its apples. Expectation. Assurance … hope. A crimson silhouette against the flurry of white blossoms took me to Jesus once more, the rising sun reflecting light across the pastoral scene outside my window. Jesus’s crimson blood provided a pure white robe of righteousness for me, reconciling me to God, my Father, assuring me I would never walk alone on this fallen earth.

As Sure as the Rising Sun is God’s Faithfulness to Me

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone … ” And as sure as the rising sun cresting the mountain ridge, He will carry me in His love when I grow weary in the battle, and hold me close to His heart.

The Lord is no respecter of persons. What He does for me, He will do for you.
