The brook babbled with a soulful melody in the shade of an old chestnut tree. Cascading across mountain stones, notes of endurance sang out a song of peace. The water seemed alive with perseverance and strength — tenacity — as it carried a timeless breath of life across the mountain hollar.
God’s Living Water Satisfies Our Soulful Thirst
I thought of the Lord as I sat on the carpet of moss along the brook’s edge.
I thought of His living water that flows within us, satisfying our soulful thirst that only the Lord can quench.
I thought of His water’s song of peace, its notes of endurance, that ring out to my soul as it flows over and under the stones collecting in my heart from life in a fallen world — a beautiful song born of hard and difficult places.

That’s a wonderful thought, isn’t it?
It’s also a promise of our God.
Consider these words of promise:
“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”~ John 7:38, NLT
“And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your soul in scorched and dry places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.” ~ Isaiah 58:11, AMP

The word that stands out to me in these passages of Scripture is will.
“… From my innermost being WILL flow rivers of living water continually …”
“… The Lord WILL continually guide me …”
“… I WILL be like a watered garden …”
Not might be, but WILL.
Our God is not a man that He should lie. What He says He will do, He will do.
And just as the babbling brook flows endlessly from its source, the Living Water flows through us from the Spirit of God — a reflection of endurance, peace, tenacity, and strength.
The Notes of Endurance Called My Name
The melody of peace trickling across the mountain stone resonated deep within me, calling my name, drawing me to the One who loves me. With His strength, I will endure the trials. With His peace, my life will echo His beautiful song with notes of endurance — not because of me, but because of His abiding Presence and life flow of Living Water that will never go dry.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
