Sunlight blazed from the summer sky filling the earth with heaven’s light. The Spirit of God made His Presence known all about me as the gentle breeze whispered through the pines. Walking along our country road, I found refuge beneath His wing — the Father of Lights casting exquisite sunbeams through the canopy of interlocking pine, oak, and elm. Birds called from the treetops. White-tail deer sprinted from the creek into the forest’s safety.

Creation declared His glory all about me — His glory is always proclaimed.

Lord, You are sovereign over all the earth. Great are You, Lord! You hung the stars in place. You tell the ocean how far it can come. And You orchestrate our days even when we face an unknown future.

Our future is known by You — You hold our days under Your tender watch-care because of Your great love.

Eyes widened with wonder as the enormous pillar of cloud spun, lifted, and moved to place itself between the enemy and God’s children. Never before on this long, arduous wilderness journey had they witnessed such an intentional move of protection from their God. Faith-steps had been taken as they trusted Moses, for sure, but this … this was different.

Lord, how majestic is Your Name over all the earth! You are excellent in all Your ways. When I can’t trace Your hand, I can always trust Your heart. When I want to give up, You empower me to persevere.

For Your heart is towards me, Your child.
