Change is Coming. It's Inevitable.

Change is coming. It’s inevitable. Some change brings hope, like the budding on our apple tree. But some change brings fear — fear of the unknown, fear of the difficult, fear of the challenge.

Do the Birds Know Change is Coming?

As I watch the cardinal and sparrow at my birdfeeder, the chickadees flitting in and out, I wonder … I wonder how they live in the now so beautifully, how they keep on singing, how they hop from branch to branch incessantly with apparent glee as they wait for their turn at the feeder.

Change is Coming. It's Inevitable.

Surely, they know spring is coming. But do they know a snowstorm is expected next week? Do they know an arctic blast is due to race across the mountain ridge in a few days bringing bitter cold once again?

And if by chance they know, do they worry?

I don’t think so.

They know their Father will feed them. Just like the lilies of the field clothed in splendor, lifting their faces to the sun, praising God in the now — not worrying about tomorrow. The lilies display the faithfulness of God.

Change is coming. It’s inevitable.

But our God — our God — He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His love is from everlasting to everlasting. His faithfulness reaches to the sky.

Whatever challenge lies ahead, our God will face it with us. Jesus said “Surely I am with You always” (Matthew 38:21). Surely!

Our God is a Sure Place

There is a season and a time for everything under the heavens — a time to laugh, a time to mourn … but our God is our sure place when all around us is shifting sand.

Change is coming. It’s inevitable, but hold fast to the One who changes not.
