I’m Running on Empty
I love You, Lord. I am astounded by Your goodness to me, Your faithfulness that reaches to the heavens. And yet, I’m overwhelmed. Will You fill my hungry soul Lord?
Like deep calls to deep, I call to You as difficulty washes over me. I know You won’t let me drown, and yet some days I feel like I’m gasping for air. The enemy’s taunts are relentless, his lies often believable. His flaming arrows hurt, and my arm grows weary from lifting high my shield of faith.
I know I’m whining. I’m sorry, Lord. I’m tired. I’m running on empty. Fill my hungry soul Lord to overflowing with strength and hope for a better tomorrow. I find my joy, my strength and my hope in You.
When I become this overwhelmed, I am clearly trying to do everything in my own strength, right?
Yes, I know.
You’ve been tapping on my shoulder and nudging my heart to come and sit with You awhile so I can transfer my burdens to You. They are too great for me to bear. I’m coming to You now, Lord … I’m coming.
As I bow before You and pour out my heart to You, will You receive my sacrifice of praise? Will You wash over me with Your Living Water and cleanse my heart of all the debris that creates a barrier in our fellowship?
When You Fill My Hungry Soul Lord, I am Renewed
Fill my hungry soul Lord, and I will be renewed. Anoint me with fresh fire to carry Your love to those around me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me … I am Yours. You alone satisfy my emptiness, and fill me with goodness. Thank You, Lord.
