“ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” ~ Colossians 3:15, NKJVhow to
“Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.” ~ 2 Timothy 2:23-26, NLT
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” ~ 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, NKJV
“Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” ~ Romans 12:17-21, NKJV
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” ~ Hebrews 12:14, NKJV
The Days are Tumultuous, let there be peace on earth
Father, the days are tumultuous, uncertain, and ripe with harsh regard for one another. Forgive us, Lord. Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. As Your children, we are called to be Christ-bearers — we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus … we are called to represent Him well.
And not ourselves.
This often requires dying to self, disregarding the need to be right, and the need to have our opinions heard. But I’m reminded that You reveal Truth because You are Truth. I just need to walk in Your statutes and follow Your ways. It is imperative that I speak Truth in love … under Your guidance.
If I am walking as Your follower, Your representative, others will see love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control in me. They won’t see bullying. They won’t encounter arrogance or impatience … they won’t see me. Instead, others will encounter Jesus and possibly be moved in their hearts to seek after Truth themselves.
As election day draws near and my anxiety reaches new levels, I pray there will be peace on earth — especially in our beloved America. And let it begin with me.
Peace on Earth is possible Because of You, Lord
Steady my heart, zip my lips, and bring my thoughts captive to You. America belongs to You — we are one nation under God! I know You must be hurting also. Do You feel anger, Lord? I do. Anger. Disbelief … and yet, because of You, I have hope for a better tomorrow.
Peace is possible because of You. You are Jehovah-Shalom, the Lord my Peace. Rise up, O God, and scatter Your enemies. Let there be peace on earth, O Lord my God! Hear my cry … and let it begin with me.
In Jesus’s Name,
Amen ~ let it be so
