The Storms of Adversity are Relentless, Lord
Mighty are You, O God! You are all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever-present in unimaginable ways. You are my refuge and strength. Help me stand firm in the storms of adversity, for they are plentiful and grow harsher by the day.
Although the battles are relentless, Your grace has been sufficient … Your presence, my refuge. Therefore I will not fear. Though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging, You are my reliable source of strength and security, Lord. On You I depend.
In my distress and overwhelm, I call out to You, and You hear me above the din. You speak to the storms of adversity and calm them to a mere whisper, rendering them null and void. The waves stop their crashing, and the wind ceases to howl, and I know I am safe. I know no weapon formed against me will prosper, and I know no enemy can get to me without facing You first, no matter how strong the storms of adversity become.
For You go before me into my tomorrows. What a joy to realize this!
You are a shield about me, the glory and the lifter of my head. You have taught me to find peace and contentment in every situation. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything — to have plenty or little. I have felt the false security of money in the bank, and the challenge of trusting You for our next meal.
Yes, Lord, You have taught me that I am found in You and that I can do all things, and face all giants because of You — You give me strength in the storms of adversity. Yes, if I had my druthers, I would want the trials to end, but we live in a fallen world where bad things happen to good people.
Your Love Sustains Me in the Storms of Adversity
I find comfort in knowing that, until that glorious day of Your return, You will sustain me when life is hard. When I am afraid, I will trust in You for Your love will never fail me.
I love You, Lord. I give You glory and honor and praise.
