Take hope in the knowledge that you are cherished by the One who made you—you are sheltered in the shadow of His wing, close to His heart. It is my prayer that as we get to know one another you, too, will see beyond the veil and will learn to say, “Even so, I walk in the Presence of the Lord”
With joy,
Nan
How to Find Shades of Grace in Your Darkest Night
Out of the darkened chamber of night, the new day dawns. Ebony turns to shades of apricot and lavender, washing over the earth, reflecting God’s glory in the rivers, lakes, puddles, dew drops — shades of grace light up the morning.
God’s glory cannot be halted — it will always be revealed, no matter the depth of night’s darkness.
Biteth Thy Tongue When It’s Begging to be Free ~ a Prayer
Lord, I desire to honor You in all things — to glorify Your Name throughout the earth. Truly, I do! But my tongue! I need to “biteth thy tongue” more, and do so faster before it breaks free.
I need Your help. You have given me self-control.
But I need the want-to.
My Heart Ached for Peace, so Where Was God?
My heart ached for peace. The days had been long. The nights longer still. Deep in my spirit I heard the Lord’s delicate whisper calling me to come, to be still and remember that He is God.
My spirit, weak with battle fatigue, struggled to remember that He is God.
be Like a Sheep When You’re Acting Like a Mule ~ A Prayer
Lord, You are my Shepherd, I shall not want for any good thing. You lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your Name’s sake. I want to be like a sheep in Your pasture, but lately I’ve been acting more like a mule.
It’s very subtle — most wouldn’t notice. But I do … and I’m sure You do as You search my heart and find anxious thoughts and attitudes that are not of You.
Where is God When it Hurts and I Feel Overwhelmed?
Huddled beneath the covers wishing the morning away, I recognized His sweet whisper, “I am for you, not against you. You are my child. You have not been forsaken.” I squeezed my eyes and scrunched up my face because, although I believed what the Lord was speaking to me, my reality felt very different. I wondered, Where is God when it hurts?
I felt alone in many ways.
You Are My Hiding Place, Lord, Yet I Keep Peeking ~ Prayer
Lord, I feel safe with You. When the world is spinning out of control, when flames of trial are lapping at my legs, I know I can run to You. You are my hiding place — this I know very well.
But I keep peeking out at the Enemy’s ambush.
Where are You, Lord, in My Difficult Season?
The morning light felt gentle and warm against my troubled spirit. I sat on the porch sipping my coffee, Bible in lap, birds offering praise from the old Juniper tree. Peace settled over me — contentment that had been missing for quite some time as I had prayed, “Where are You, Lord in my difficult season?”
“Speak to me through Your Word, Lord. I’m listening.”
Prayer to Look to You Jesus, but the Devil is Whispering
Lord, what a wonder You are. I stand in awe at Your goodness and Your faithfulness to me. You are teaching me to look to You, Jesus — and I’m trying — but the Enemy is continuously tapping on my shoulder and whispering to me.
It’s so annoying … and distracting.
How Does God Use the Flames of Affliction in our Lives?
Some seasons of life are harder than others — they all come with purpose, but the difficult places can be very hard to overcome. How does God use the flames of affliction in our lives? Why does He choose this method?
I considered the ways of God as I struck the match and pressed its flame against the candle wick. Within moments, a globe of fire consumed the string and burned bright. I watched as the flame grew stronger, melting the aromatic candle.
