Take hope in the knowledge that you are cherished by the One who made you—you are sheltered in the shadow of His wing, close to His heart. It is my prayer that as we get to know one another you, too, will see beyond the veil and will learn to say, “Even so, I walk in the Presence of the Lord”
With joy,
Nan
Christmas. Miracle of miracles.
Christmas. Can we fathom the wonder of His love? Can we grasp the magnitude of Who this baby lying in a manger was? God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, Jesus, that we might know Him, and love Him, and understand the essence of who He is. He sent His Son with the hope that we would believe in Him and dwell with Him throughout all eternity.
How Do I Find God in My Empty Places?
Lord, You came to shine Your glorious light into our darkness, to fill up our empty places with Your love, and to heal our broken places. Thank You. You are full of wonder and might. You are faithful and true. You are my God.
When You Least Expect It, A Star Shimmers
Beneath the starry sky in a field outside of town, shepherds lounged on meadow grass, resting weary bones, taking in the peaceful stillness of the night. Out of the darkness, light from a brilliant star cast a beam across the flock. Slender reeds of grass bowed in response. The sheep stopped their grazing.
Where is God When I Need a Clean Heart?
You are our God.
And in our darkest midnight, Your light radiates and cloaks our personal world with the dawning of hope and peace. Your love creates a clean heart in the one who is longing for restoration. Your love is a song in our night — a song for the suffering.
Your love is embodied in the Christ Child — Jesus.
Emmanuel.
God’s Love is Like a Song, a Rhythm of Grace
God’s love is like that. As His children, we are sealed in His covenant love — a covenant which can never be broken.
And like the river that courses across the mountain valleys or laps at the marsh along our coastal plains, God’s love is endless, swirling around our boulders of difficulty and carving out beautiful monuments of His faithfulness.
Where is God When Depression Demands a Voice?
But You are teaching me to focus — to see You with me always, in all circumstances, in all of my difficult places. You are awakening my heart to see that out of brokenness, lavish grace is released and beauty can sincerely rise from the ashes.
Amber Flames Bring Heartache and Fear. But God …
“Now is the time for my Son.”
“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring; They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses.” ~ Isaiah 44:3-4
God recognized the parched spirits, the thirst of those longing to know Him. He felt their hopelessness. He wept over their brokenness.
O Lord, You’re Beautiful
Teach us how to seek You with our whole heart. You promise that when we seek You, we will find You. When You tell us to seek Your face, stir within us obedience to respond, “Your face Lord, will I seek.” We want to know You more. Reveal Yourself to us fully. Open our eyes to see You in our midst.
The Apple Tree and Fruit From Another Season
I thought of my own winter season. Evidence of fruit and God’s faithfulness abounds, yet at times the fruit seems to be leftover, rather than fresh and new. Could it be that as I lift my hands to heaven like the limbs of the apple tree, the Light of the One I love will break through the canopy of shadows and illuminate His beauty within me?
