I am a polished arrow hidden in Your quiver, Lord

“He made my mouth like a sharp sword;
    in the shadow of His hand He hid me;
He made me a polished arrow;
    in His quiver He hid me away.” ~ Isaiah 49:2, ESV

“The [skilled] archers have bitterly attacked and provoked him;
They have shot [at him] and harassed him.
But his bow remained firm and steady [in the Strength that does not fail],
For his arms were made strong and agile
By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob,
(By the name of the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),” ~ Genesis 49:23-24, AMP

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” ~ 1 Peter 1:6-7, NKJV

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be].” ~ 1 Peter 5:10, AMP

I am an arrow hidden in Your hand, Lord, hidden there for safekeeping

Father, You equip and prepare us for our assignments, each fitted to our gifts, talents, and personalities. Together we build the Kingdom of God here on earth — we are soldiers in the army of our King. I am an arrow in Your hand, hidden there for safekeeping. Through trials and tribulation, I have become a polished arrow smooth and sleek, ready for battle.

Or so the Scripture says.

You have made me a polished arrow, Lord.

And though I’m ready, it seems that You have hidden me away in Your quiver until the appointed time. Times of waiting are hard. Standing in between doorways. Trusting and obeying, but not fully understanding. Watching others excel in their field reaping harvest after harvest while I wait, chips away at my resolve to serve You without question or hesitation.

But then I remember Your sovereignty. Thank You for teaching me about Your sovereignty — Your authority over all things and thank You for teaching me about Your eternal perspective. Indeed, Your ways are not our ways, and Your thoughts are not our thoughts. You do not follow a clock or calendar …

And there is an appointed time for all things under the heavens.

I'm a polished arrow hidden in Your quiver, Lord

That’s why I’m hidden away in Your quiver for now, isn’t it Lord? The season of my harvest is yet to come. And while I wait, You are polishing this arrow of any rough edges that will hinder me in battle. My desire is to be a polished arrow, sleek and undeniably Yours.

You are making my bow firm and steady, and my arms strong and agile. As a polished arrow, I will go in Your strength — You will not fail. Trials, difficulties, and flames of adversity all play a part in preparing me for the work and walk ahead. In Your appointed time, You will complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish me. Until then, I will learn to be content as a polished arrow kept in Your quiver for safekeeping.

I Wait on You, Lord, with confident expectation

You are the Keeper of my soul, the Lord mighty and strong. I trust You, Lord. Thank You for Your longsuffering as I learn to wait with confident expectation that you orchestrate the days of my life.

I bless You, Lord and I give You praise.

In Jesus’s Name, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
