“So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” ~ Hebrews 6:18-19, NLT
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by His power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.” ~ 1 Peter 1:3-5, NLT
“We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
In Him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in His holy name.
Let Your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in You alone.” ~ Psalm 33:20-22, NLT
“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” ~ Matthew 28:5-6, NKJV
An Easter Prayer
Lord, I often think about the morning Your tomb was found empty, Your grave cloths still spread upon the place where Your body was laid. Your disciples’ hope had been anchored in You, but You were placed in that dark tomb. Dead. Confusion had wrung out their hearts. Crushing despair devastated them. But then …
I can only imagine the wonder Mary experienced when You called her name. Tenderly … gently … You called her name.
You were alive! Mary’s anchor held.

I want my anchor to hold too, Lord. I want to know You so deeply that nothing — no thing — can ever take away the hope I have in You, nothing can ever rattle me so completely that fear takes over my heart and seeks to destroy me.
This world has gone crazy. Life is hard. And yet, You remain. You are my sure place, my hiding place when I feel overwhelming anxiety. My hope is anchored in You. You are my help and my shield. In You, my heart rejoices because I trust You completely.
You are such a personal God. You meet us where we are, You speak to us in ways we understand. And You teach us Your great love. Thank You for not condemning me when my heart becomes anxiety-ridden. You lovingly shine Your light in the darkened places of my mind where anxiety and worry whisper, revealing them to me.

Then You call my name. Tenderly … gently … You call my name and peace returns.
Fear cannot stand in the face of who You are. Anxiety and worry cannot exist in Your presence. My hope is anchored in You, Lord, and I know Your love will never fail me.
My Hope is Anchored in You, Lord
By faith, I know that one day, I too, will be resurrected to new life and live for all of eternity with You. Safe and sound, encompassed in the glory of Your presence. You are with me here on this earth and will be a shield about me until I receive this miracle of salvation. The world cannot take this truth away from me, for my hope is anchored in You.
In the Name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen ~ let it be so
