Advent: Hope
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
O my people, trust in Him at all times.
Pour out your heart to Him,
for God is our refuge.” ~ Psalm 62:5-8, NLT
“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me.” ~ Micah 7:7, NIV
“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, NLT
All because of Jesus
Father, there is no god besides You — none can compare! And the amazing thing is that, even though You are magnificent, awesome in power, and the Most High God, You call us precious in Your sight. Your love gives me hope because I know no matter what I face, I don’t face it alone. You walk with me into my tomorrows … You are my living hope.
Your love gives me courage. And peace. And strength to endure the trials that permeate this fallen world. Thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your abiding presence.
Immanuel — God with us.

Yes, You are with me and I need not face any giant alone. When I pass through the waters, I will not drown. When I pass through the flames, I won’t burn because Your Spirit shields me from harm as You carry me through like a Father who carries His son through the wilderness.
All because of Jesus.
When I look upon the Christ Child wrapped in swaddling clothes, open my eyes to see the Man Jesus — the perfect Lamb, the Son of God — lifted high on the cross that I might be drawn to You, Lord. Open my eyes to see the stone rolled away so I might behold the miracle of the risen Lord.
Oh, what sacrifice.
Oh, what love!
You are my rock and my salvation … my living hope
You are my living hope, Lord! Be magnified in me. I want Your light — the Light of Christ — to unfurl in a mighty blaze illuminating the evidence of Your presence — for Your glory, for Your honor — for You are indeed with me always, even to the ends of the earth.
Awaken my heart this Christmas season to love and adore You. You are my rock and my salvation, my refuge in the storm. My hope is found in You … my Living Hope.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen
