Peace is a gift Lord. Help me unwrap it in my overwhelm.
An Advent Prayer

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” ~ Isaiah 9:6, NKJV

“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.” ~ Isaiah 26:3, NKJV

“For He Himself is our peace … ” ~ Ephesians 2:14, NKJV

Your Peace is a Gift, Lord

Lord, I sense Your presence, Your delicate whisper calling my name. I know that in Your presence is joy unspeakable. In Your presence is perfect peace. Peace is a gift, Lord. Your gift … but I’m overwhelmed.

Peace is a gift Lord. Help me unwrap it in my overwhelm.

Steady my heart to receive Your gift. Guide me to stillness away from the chaos where beneath the light of Your glory I might unwrap Your gift of peace and clasp it to my heart.

I ask that You take my overwhelm and cover it in Your grace. Take my broken places that resonate with sorrow, and bring Your soothing comfort, Your healing balm of love.

Help me reach for You when I begin to succumb to the stress of the season. Lift my chin, turning my face toward heaven where I see only You. Open my ears to hear You — oh, how I love to hear You whisper my name.

Peace is a gift, Lord — a precious gift. You are Jehovah Shalom — the Lord my peace. I’m so grateful. From the manger to the cross … to that glorious Resurrection morning, You gave Yourself so that I might have peace.

I Receive Your Peace by Faith

May I never take it for granted and may I never dismiss it as though Your gift means nothing. I receive it by faith, and I give You praise. I adore You, Lord.
