“To You, Lord, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy [for my heart is heavy-laden]:
‘What is gained if I am silenced,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You?
Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?
Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
Lord, be my help.‘
“You turned my wailing into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise You forever.” ~ Psalm 30:8-12, NIV
When My Heart is Overwhelmed — Heavy-laden — He is My Peace
Lord, I am so heavy-laden. My heart is overwhelmed. I’m drowning in fear and sorrow — slipping quickly into the pit of despair.
But I see Your hand reaching toward me. You have been a strong tower to me, O Lord. Do not leave me in my despair. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I!
Grant me strength and determination to reach up as far as I can, to take hold of Your strong hand. You are faithful to come to my rescue.

You are faithful to meet me where I am, even when the place of my heart is messy and muddy with everything less than holiness.
Forgive me, Lord. Forgive me for taking my eyes off You and focusing on circumstances. When I stop seeking Your face, my sorrows increase, my frustrations magnify, and despair settles in. I become heavy-laden with burdens You don’t intend for me to carry.
Oh wretched woman that I am! The things I don’t want to do … I do.
The things I do want to do … I don’t.
Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me. When my heart is pure before You, I sit freely and beautifully within Your presence. In Your presence is fullness of joy. In Your Presence is peace beyond compare.
And in Your presence my heart is no longer heavy-laden, and I lay my burdens down as I rest against Your breast.
Steady Our Heavy-Laden Hearts as We Trust in You
Lord, lead us to Your throne. I know I’m not the only one overwhelmed in this sin-filled world. We cry out to You for mercy and abundant grace to heal our hearts and restore our minds.
Steady our hearts as we rest in You — the Almighty God, or Burden-Bearer, our good, good Father.
You are amazing. What would we do without You, Lord. Lead us in Your Truth. Cover us in the banner of Your love. In You, we are more than conquerors.
In You we are free.
In Jesus’s Name I pray,
Amen
