I’ve Got a Grip on Hope, Lord. Help Me Hang On

Father, You are the Holy One, the One True God. You are my Beloved and I am Yours — You call me daughter. I’m so thankful I have a grip on hope, knowing that You have a sovereign plan for all things. And yet, some days it’s just plain hard to hang on. Help me keep my eyes on You. When my eyes are on You, the things of earth grow smaller and no longer threaten me. When I consider You and all Your ways, I find peace and I’m able to keep a grip on hope.

What reassurance this gives me!

Father, You are the Almighty God, Maker of heaven and earth. You are sovereign over all things — Your power is unmatched. Lead us through these frightening days. Help us see Your hand in all things.

There are wars and rumors of war, earthquakes, fires, and floods. The earth is groaning with the spiritual battle that is at hand. The depravity of mankind is clear for all to see.

You see too, Lord. And You know all about it.

I have no reason to fear. I have no reason to surrender to overwhelming anxiety because You are with me. You will never leave nor forsake Your children — we are the apple of Your eye, Your special treasure.

Father, what a mighty God You are, full of power and wonder, beautiful in holiness. You are the Lion of Judah, my King. You are my protector and my shield.

Will You roar from on high and scatter my enemy? O Lion of Judah, the evil one has been relentless and vicious in his attacks. But I know who I am. I am Yours and You are mine and no evil can come near my tent. I am secure beneath the shadow of Your wing.

Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but You promise to deliver us out of them all. You promise to be our shelter in the storm, our refuge, our strong tower we can run into and be safe. Even so, I’m afraid Lord, but I don’t want to be.

Would You draw ever closer and remind me of who I am to You?
