Teach me to number my days, Lord. The clock's ticking

So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Return, O Lord!
How long?
And have compassion on Your servants.
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us,
The years in which we have seen evil.
Let Your work appear to Your servants,
And Your glory to their children.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.
~ Psalm 90:12-17, NKJV

I Don’t Want to Be Selfish, Lord

Lord, You are Maker of heaven and earth, the All-Sufficient God. Your sufficiency meets my insufficiency and I am made whole. I am equipped. I have all I need to serve You well. Teach me to number my days, to recognize that time is running short — people need You, Lord.

I don’t want to be selfish. I don’t want to hide my light beneath a barrel and put my gifts in a pretty box where they gather dust. You have prepared me for such a time as this.

teach me to number my days, Lord

You are my Lord, my King, and my God. I want my life to be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to you. Help me conquer the battles of flesh and spirit — teach me to number my days and put my flesh in its place on those days I want to sit and sour.

Make me aware of those around me who need a hug, a word of encouragement, a hot meal, or a heartfelt prayer. Make me brave to step out of my comfort zone, to be your hands and feet. Help me understand just how brief life is so that I might number my days and use them well.

Teach Me to Number My Days, Lord

Satisfy me, Lord, with Your unfailing love that I might praise You for as long as I live. You, alone deserve all praise! Help me grow in wisdom a little more each day as I step away from the busyness to be in Your presence, study Your word, and to seek to understand Your ways.

I love You, Lord … I love You so much. Thank You for all You do for me.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray,

Amen
