The Little Foxes are Ruining the Vine, Lord. Help!

“Catch us the foxes,
The little foxes that spoil the vines,
For our vines have tender grapes.” ~ Song of Solomon 2:15, NKJV

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7, NLT

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into His most excellent harmonies.” ~ Philippians 4:8-9, MSG

Little Irritants … Little Foxes

Lord, the birdsong outside my window is glorious. The simple praise of my feathered friends brings me back to the center and reminds me that You are in the details of my life, big and small. Even the little irritants — the little foxes — can be used by You for my good and Your glory.

When I keep my eyes on You, the things of earth grow dim, they lose their power over me. When I keep my eyes on You, my heart is kept in peace and thankfulness escapes my lips.

Thankfulness is a key, isn’t it? The little foxes can’t upset me when I remain thankful. I can see them for what they are — fiery darts from the enemy that come to distract and discourage me … if I let them.

little foxes spoil the vine

But when I keep my eyes on You I can see them clearly — little foxes sent to spoil the vine, sent to steal my joy and cause me distress.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. You, Lord, are a shield about me, the keeper of my soul. Thank You for defending me against the assaults of the enemy — great and small.

Thank You for making me aware of the little foxes that slip in unannounced to rattle me. When I keep my eyes on You I will not be shaken, I will not lose my peace.

All that I need I have in You, Jesus

Help me be diligent, Lord, and be disciplined to keep my spiritual eyes and ears open so that I might discern the enemy’s tactics. Forgive me when I entertain his thoughts and lies and try to handle things with my own strength. You give me grace to overcome. All that I need I have found in You.

Bless You, Lord. I give You praise for You alone are worthy of all praise.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen — let it be so
