This mountain is steep, but I feel Your grip, Lord

“Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough places smooth;” ~ Isaiah 40:4, NKJV

“For the mountains may move
    and the hills disappear,
but even then My faithful love for you will remain.
My covenant of blessing will never be broken,”
says the Lord, who has mercy on you.” ~ Isaiah 54:10, NLT

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27, NKJV

You Lead Me, Lord, Shielding Me From Harm

Father, You lead me in paths of righteousness for Your Name’s sake. Through the valleys, through the turbulent waters, and through the flames of adversity, You lead me, shielding me from harm. This path has led me to a mountain, and this mountain is steep.

I feel the grip of Your hand holding mine. I can sense Your strong arm beneath me undergirding and offering me strength, and I’m thankful. But I look up and feel overwhelmed by the height of this mountain. I feel inadequate to scale the rugged terrain.

That’s the problem, isn’t it, Lord? I’m approaching this mountain with my feelings, letting them dictate my capabilities rather than climbing it by faith. It doesn’t matter if this mountain is steep and rugged — what matters is that You are with me.

the mountain is steep, Lord, but You are with me

You tell me, “Be of good courage and don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Bless You, Lord! What an amazing thought. Help me keep it ever before me … especially when the mountain is steep.

You promise that every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low. The crooked places will be made straight and the rough places smooth. You, Lord, are the God of the impossible — nothing is too hard for You, so I have put my trust in You.

I Will Hold Onto You Tighter, Lord When the Mountain is Steep

Though the mountain is steep and cluttered with difficulty, I will climb it with my head held high, eyes on You. I will hold onto You tighter and submit to Your leadership as You lead me through the hard places.

And I will conquer this mountain with grace and courage, and I will give You the glory. I will sing Your praises all the way up the bramble-covered trail, because You, Lord are worthy of all praise.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
