Visuals. Oh, how they help me understand!
Especially the ways and truths of the Lord.
Would God Provide Visuals to Help Me Understand?
It had been a grueling week with multiple doctor appointments, financial concerns, and the steady drip, drip, drip of the well that was supposed to be springing up in my soul.
I was tired. Frazzled. And so very weary.
Earlier that morning I read from Deuteronomy 33:25, “As are your days, so shall your strength be.”
… so shall your strength be …
Strength. Like grace — that manna from heaven that sustains us and is sufficient for each new day. This was a promise I could take hold of because I was surely in need of strength.

I laced my tennis shoes, grabbed my coat and music, and set off on my afternoon walk. All day I had pondered that verse, “As are your days, so shall your strength be … ”
The pondering continued .as I traveled down our country road.
Lord, teach me Your ways. I know You are my strength. I know this truth and I believe it. But there are times on this faith journey that I need to sense Your intervention. You know … I need to see the battle that is taking place in the heavenly places on my behalf. I’ve learned so very much about your tender watch-care these past few years, but sometimes I need to see and remember that You are the Most High God, mighty in power, taking my battle into Your hands.
The Visuals of God are Always Right on Time
A stiff wind began to blow across the mountain ridge. Billowing clouds formed an impressive tower to the east as the sun made its trek westward, casting shadows in its wake.
And I smiled.
I smiled because I was reminded of Psalm 18 where David tells us, “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple. And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.”
And then the psalmist goes into these visuals of God’s power. He describes the earth shaking because of God’s anger towards those who would harm His child. Smoke came from His nostrils, and fire from His mouth. He bowed the heavens and came down riding upon a cherub and flew upon the wings of the wind. The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered His voice sending hailstones and coals of fire and arrows of lightnings.
Can you see it? Can you see the imagery that reflects the power of Almighty God — something tangible to grab hold of when we consider His might? And not only that, but let’s not forget, this was a holy response to the cries of David’s heart!
The towering clouds to the east and the stiff wind to my back reminded me that the Lord had heard my distressful cries. I recognized His power displayed above me; I sensed His abiding presence.
Once I got back home, I curled up on the couch with my Bible and a glass of cold water. I wanted to read some more from Deuteronomy and this is what I found, “As are your days, so shall your strength be.” followed by:

“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun [Israel],
Who rides the heavens to help you,
And in His excellency on the clouds.
The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, ‘Destroy!’
Then Israel shall dwell in safety,
The fountain of Jacob alone,
In a land of grain and new wine;
His heavens shall also drop dew. ” ~ Deuteronomy 33:26-28
I can see it, Lord! I can see it. The visuals of Your mighty power are awesome. Thank you for helping me understand.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Oh Miss Grace, you are so precious to me. You are a strong, warrior woman who honors her husband and her God with everything you do and say. Care-giving is not for sissies, is it? Please remember to take care of yourself. I’m adding you to my prayer journal. I love you.
