How enriched are they who find their strength in the Lord;
within their hearts are the highways of holiness!
Even when their paths wind through the dark valley of tears,
they dig deep to find a pleasant pool where others find only pain.
He gives to them a brook of blessing
filled from the rain of an outpouring.
They grow stronger and stronger with every step forward,
and the God of all gods will appear before them in Zion. ~ Psalm 84:5-7, TPT
I’m in the Valley, Lord
Lord, the valley is deep. I’m stumbling over giant stones of despair and brokenness. I find myself tripping over the lies of the enemy — the very lies I recognize as such and yet yield to their evil intent to take my eyes off You.
Forgive me, Lord.
I know You to be faithful, full of love and mercy. I know You as El Roi, my God who sees me and knows all about it.
You are my hope. You are my peace.
You are my Light in this present darkness, this valley of the soul.
I can see Your mountaintop, Lord.
I yearn for its rest.
I yearn for its glory — the glory of Your Presence, Your precious touch, the empowerment of Your Holy Spirit.
I yearn for You.
On the mountaintop.
Away from the valley.
But I know that in the valley is where my faith is deepened. My roots grow deep to drink from the Living Water running beneath the rich soil the valley affords. Here, I learn to recognize the promptings of Your Holy Spirit inside me with more clarity and assurance.
When I look up and view the mountaintop I remember that I am Yours. I seek shelter in its shadow. I find comfort knowing You are high above in the heavenly heights overseeing my life.
Nothing happens without Your knowledge.
Your love reaches deeper than the deepest valley, wider than any expanse between the difficult place and the glory of Your mountaintop.
Open my eyes that I might see You, Lord.
You are the lifter of my head. Lift it, Lord, that I might behold Your glory on the mountaintop — the mountain that, by faith, I know is there towering above my distress.
By Faith, I Can See You in the Valley
I know You are with me. I know You are making these crooked places straight and leading me by my right hand straight to Your throne of grace high upon the mountaintop where I can rest in Your peace and see things from Your perspective.
I’m grateful for that, Lord. So grateful.
And I am grateful for You, my good, good Father.
In Jesus’s Name I pray,
Amen
