I crawled out of bed, bleary-eyed from a restless sleep. My mind careened from one worrisome thought to another, my soul quaked with anxiety.
Lifting My Hands in Worship, I Sang
Curling up on the couch with my Bible and coffee, I turned my thoughts to Jesus. I Exalt Thee played softly in the background and I began to relax into the arms of my Savior. Lifting my hands in worship, I sang, I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee O Lord. For Thou O Lord art high above all the earth, Thou art exalted far above all gods …
A holy hush fell upon me like a fleece blanket settling on my soul. A tear of gratitude escaped my eye as His love enfolded me, making all things right.
The hard edges I awoke with softened. I was no longer bleary-eyed but could see clearly, the worrisome thoughts surrendered to the promises of God and I found peace.
Jehovah-Shalom — the Lord my peace.

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’” ~ Matthew 11:28-30, NLT
I Was No Longer Bleary-Eyed
The chaos and difficult places remained, but because of Jesus, I could be content, unafraid, and secure — no longer bleary-eyed from a restless sleep. His presence comforted me and reminded me who I am.
He calls me daughter.
