A Prayer When Fear Abounds and You Feel alone

¹ I’m hurting, Lord—will you forget me forever?
How much longer, Lord?
Will you look the other way when I’m in need?
² How much longer must I cling to this constant grief?
I’ve endured this shaking of my soul.
So how much longer will my enemy have the upper hand?
It’s been long enough!
³ Take a good look at me, God, and answer me!
Breathe your life into my spirit.
Bring light to my eyes in this pitch-black darkness
or I will sleep the sleep of death.
⁴ Don’t let my enemy proclaim, “I’ve prevailed over him.”
For all my adversaries will celebrate when I fall.
⁵ Lord, I have always trusted in your kindness, so answer me.
I will yet celebrate with passion and joy
when your salvation lifts me up.
⁶ I will sing my song of joy to you, the Most High,
for in all of this you have strengthened my soul.
My enemies say that I have no Savior,
but I know that I have one in you! ~ Psalm 13

Lord, You are my Refuge and Strength. You are the song in my darkest night of fear and despair.

You are my peace.

In the Face of Fear, God is My Song

Remind me of this as You bathe me in Your perfect peace. When I seek You, I find You. When I find You, I find peace.

I’m afraid, Lord. Circumstances are beyond my control — I must remember You have never lost control. Even in my darkest night You are still in control. You are sovereign over all the earth.

Help me remember.

Ease the panic in my heart. Calm my restless thoughts. Wash over me with Your supreme grace that wipes away the tears and replaces my fear with courage.

You are my God and I am Your child. That settles it!

That should settle it.

You are for me, not against me. What can this world do to me? When I am afraid, I will trust in You.

You fight my battles.

You shield me with the glory of Your Presence.

You bring light into my darkness and sing over me in my darkest night.

God Will Give Courage in the Face of Fear

When I am afraid, Lord, I will trust in You. Your love has never failed me and I know it never will. When darkness surrounds me, open my eyes that I might see You there with me, holding my hand, guiding me, giving me courage in the face of fear.

When You are with me, I am no longer afraid.

Thank You, Lord.
