“Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and His apostles didn’t even have time to eat.” ~ Mark 6:31, NLT
Why is it So Hard to Hit the Pause Button?
Lord, You are Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God, and the Prince of Peace. You are all things wrapped up in one. You are the Great I AM — I AM that I AM. And You live within us and walk beside us! BUT. If we’re not willing to hit the pause button and step away from the crazy, all that You are to and for us goes by the wayside.
Oh! What a stubborn people we are. Stubborn and stiff-necked.

You call us by name and we often shush You because we’re busy. You breathe on us in the gentle breeze as You pass by, and we complain that it’s chilly, totally missing Your presence. You step in to hold and comfort us in our distress, yet we only want to entertain our restless thoughts and keep our heads spinning.
Our plates are simply too full to hit the pause button and rest with You awhile.
Forgive us, Lord. Forgive us for being too busy for You, Forgive us for being so stubborn in our frustrations that we keep our eyes glued on the television rather than seeking Your lovely face.
Give us the tenacity to heed Your call, to hit the pause button on our activities or woeful emotions, and step into the quiet with You.
You are our source of strength. You are our peace. And You are our sanity. You did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, power and a sound mind. With all of these attributes within us, surely we can leave this crazy world behind long enough to garner peace from You.
When We Are Willing to Hit the Pause Button, We Find Peace
Remind us who we are to You, Lord. We are Your Beloved. We are Your daughters and sons who are loved with unimaginable, palpable love. Open the hardened crust of our hearts to receive Your love anew, to yearn for Your touch, the glory and miracle of Your presence once again.
That only comes when we are willing to hit the pause button, step away from the crazy and take Your hand. Lead us up to the mountain of God where we can sit with You and rest awhile. Thank You for Your love.
In Jesus’s Name I pray,
Amen — let it be so
