“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.” ~ Proverbs 18:10, NKJV
For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah ~ Psalm 61:3-4, NKJV
I Am Safe When I Run to Him
Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but You have promised to deliver us out of them all. I stand on Your promises. I trust that You are my strong tower — that I can run to You and be safe high above my Enemy.
But sometimes I trip along the way.
I stumble as I run to You because my fear overcomes my faith. My eyes focus on the stones in my path instead of the light of Your glory. Or I look back and see the Enemy gaining ground.
Forgive me Lord.
In my mind’s eye I can see Your outstretched hands, I can hear Your gentle whisper calling to me, but my response is impeded by my thoughts that have not come into submission to You.
What is the Strong Tower of God?
I know and I believe You are my strong tower. I see You there in the lofty heights of heaven, I see You there in the dusty, barren desert places — I see You there high and lifted up yearning for me to run to You.

There in Your arms, I am safe from the assault of the Enemy. You are my sure place, my fortress when flaming arrows come against me.
Make my crooked places straight as I run to You. Make my steps sure to keep me from tripping.
Cause my flesh — my thoughts and emotions — to come in alignment with Your Word so that I WILL run to You.
Even if I stumble on the way, I will pick myself up and heed Your call to keep running towards You.
You are my rock, my fortress. You are the Great I AM. The Enemy cannot touch me when I am in Your presence. This I know. I desire this to be an automatic response when trouble comes, when restless thoughts invade, and when the flaming arrows are getting a little too close.
I Can Trust Him to be My Strong Tower
I WILL run to You, Lord, my strong tower. I WILL trust in You. And if I trip on my way to Your shelter, I will look for Your extended hand, and grab hold, because I know You will lift me to safety in the battle.
Bless You, Lord. You alone deserve my praise.
In the Name of Jesus I pray,
Amen
Have you ever experienced this? Full of faith one minute and then tripping over your own feet the next? I certainly have. I would love to hear your experiences of calling on the Name of Jesus, running as quickly as possible to His shelter, only to trip and succumb to fear once again.
How did you learn to overcome? What is the strong tower of God to you?
