The sun rises outside my window dispelling the darkness of night, awakening the songbirds living in our ancient juniper. I thought about the goodness of God — His goodness regardless of my circumstances, and turned the pages of my Bible to Hebrews:
“He has said, ‘I will never leave you, nor forsake you.’ So that we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear. What can man do to me?'” ~ Hebrews 13:5-6
The Lord is my helper …
He is for me, not against me.
God is my refuge and strength; a very present help in times of trouble.
I have tasted of His goodness and know these promises to be true. I have gathered His grace each morning, and feasted at His table in the presence of my enemies.
I know that I know God is good. He is faithful, and He is able.
So, Lord, why do I have days when I feel overcome with anxiety? Why do I surrender to the taunts of the enemy and not lift high my shield of faith? How do I walk steadfast in my faith and not slip in the difficult places? Please forgive me, Lord. Open my eyes to see You surrounding me, guarding me, and bringing me safely through the fire. When I feel afraid let me see only You surrounding me with Your Spirit and Your Angel-armies. Let no circumstances blind me to Your glorious Presence.
Sweet friend, do you suffer the same? Do you know in your knower God will not fail you in your time of need, yet during the in-between time of praying and receiving, you find anxiety taking over?
Taste … and keep on tasting! That’s what I’m going to do.
In tasting we will see that the Lord really is good. He delights in revealing Himself to His children as we seek Him. He delights in proving Himself o’er and o’er.
“The Angel of God sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.
“Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.
“Is anyone crying for help? God is listening,
ready to rescue you.
“If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
“Disciples so often get into trouble;
still, God is there every time.” ~ Psalm 34:7-8, 17-19, MSG
The Lord is good. I shall not want.

Nan…thank you for always reminding us that our God IS faithful! I would like to share a beautiful song Every Cry….artist Jim Brady Trio…that I have turned to time’n time again. “May His love be the strength that you need”! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1P5Kzy1oes
Oh Jo-Ann! Thank you so much. What a blessing the lyrics are. I have never heard that song before, but it was just what a I needed. I shared it with a friend also. Thank you for thinking of me.
Yes, I do know, even in my “knower”. But hang it all if I don’t go forgetting what I know and keep spinning my wheels. Good thing He never gives up on me or I’d be up a creek without a paddle.
