The sun rose outside my window dispelling the darkness of night, awakening the songbirds living in our ancient juniper. I thought about the goodness of God — remembering the Lord is my Helper, especially in the difficult places. He remains good, regardless of my circumstances.
The Lord is My Helper, I Will Not Fear
I turned the pages of my Bible to Hebrews: “He has said, ‘I will never leave you, nor forsake you.’ So that we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” ~ Hebrews 13:5-6
The Lord is my helper …
He is for me, not against me.
God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.
I have tasted of His goodness and know these promises to be true. I have gathered His grace each morning and feasted at His table in the presence of my enemies.
I know that I know God is good. He is faithful, and He is able.

As the morning sky transitioned into blue, I prayed:
Lord, why do I have days when I feel overcome with anxiety? Why do I surrender to the taunts of the enemy and not lift high my shield of faith? How do I walk steadfast in my faith and not slip in the difficult places? Please forgive me, Lord. Open my eyes to see You surrounding me, guarding me, and bringing me safely through the fire. When I feel afraid let me see only You surrounding me with Your Spirit and Your Angel-armies. Let no circumstances blind me to Your glorious Presence.
I heard the morning dove coo from the boughs of the apple tree. God’s peace began to settle over me as I remembered who He is to me. He is the Keeper of my soul, my helper in all circumstances.

Sweet friend, do you suffer the same? Do you know in your knower God will not fail you in your time of need, yet during the in-between time of praying and receiving, you find anxiety taking over?
Taste … and keep on tasting! That’s what I’m going to do. In tasting, we will see that the Lord really is good. He delights in revealing Himself to His children as we seek Him. He delights in proving Himself to us.
Blessed Are You Who Run to Him
“The Angel of God sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.
“Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.
“Is anyone crying for help? God is listening,
ready to rescue you.
“If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
“Disciples so often get into trouble;
still, God is there every time.” ~ Psalm 34:7-8, 17-19, MSG
The Lord is my Helper. I will not fear.
