Take hope in the knowledge that you are cherished by the One who made you—you are sheltered in the shadow of His wing, close to His heart. It is my prayer that as we get to know one another you, too, will see beyond the veil and will learn to say, “Even so, I walk in the Presence of the Lord”
With joy,
Nan
How To Find God’s Perfect Peace
Freely given is His peace “lying so deeply within the human heart that no external difficulty or disturbance can reach it.”
And His peace remains for the child of God, a deep cistern of calm in the midst of the fiercest storm.
Where is God When I Need His Favor?
I bring my friends — my readers — before Your throne of grace. I ask that You shower them with Your many blessings of favor. Cause them to dance in the joy that You are with them and You delight in their love. Let them find Your faithfulness in all things that concern them.
Lessons From a Fog Shrouded Night
Sweet friend, is your path veiled by fog also? Do you find yourself confused, afraid — maybe disillusioned by this thing called faith? The Lord desires to make Himself known to you. Call out to Him. Dare to take Him at His Word.
And allow Him to take your hand and lead you by the light of His love through the shroud of fog and the darkness from your past.
Where is God When I Need His Peace?
Lord, You are my strength when I am weak. You are my peace when my spirit is disturbed. You are my song when I am weary. What would I do without you? If I shouted my praise to the highest mountain — it would not be enough. If I literally spent my life worshiping You from sunup to sundown — it would not be enough. You alone are worthy of all praise. It is You, Lord, that I love.
What Happened on the River’s Edge?
Tears began to flow like the river below. Hands raised in sweet surrender, hearts yielding to the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit bidding us to come. One by one rocks were released. I watched as mine hit the water. It broke the surface and then the water came up and over to symbolically consume the burden of my heart.
Where is God When I Need a Solid Rock on Which to Stand?
You are my anchor that keeps me from drifting into turbulent waters where I will surely drown. You keep my feet from slipping on the shifting sand that blows beneath me from shores I don’t recognize — from painful memories and personal places of struggle. You are faithful, Lord. And good — so good to Your children. Thank you.
Just As I Am, Lord, I Come
For you see, “Just as I am without one plea,” His blood was shed for me. And “though tossed about with many a conflict and many a doubt, Fighting fears within without,” He bid me to come. The precious Lamb of God called me to come.
Where is God When I Need His Grace?
You are the potter. We are the clay. We all fit into Your eternal plan. Our gifts and talents, our personalities with their weaknesses and strengths all fit into Your plan … because You chose us for such a time as this. Awaken our hearts to realize this, Lord, and to walk with courage into Your purposes.
Elijah, Orb-Weaver Spiders, and Tenacity With a Little Chutzpah Thrown In
Did you realize Elijah is just like us? In spite of his greatness and the miracles that followed his walk with God, he was still subject to the same feelings and weaknesses as us. In fact, right after this remarkable miracle of defeating 450 of Baal’s prophets and then praying for rain to end a three year drought, this mighty man of faith ran for his life because Jezebel threatened to kill him! In fact, he ran into the wilderness for a day and collapsed beneath a juniper tree and told the Lord “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life!”
