I know I'm not worthy, Lord, but You say I am

“How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God.
    They cannot be numbered!
I can’t even count them;
    they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
    You are still with me!” ~ Psalm 139:17-18, NLT

“Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
    Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
    Your justice like the ocean depths.
You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.
 How precious is Your unfailing love, O God!
All humanity finds shelter
    in the shadow of Your wings.”
~ Psalm 36:5-7, NLT

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do His work and speak out for Him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference He made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” ~ 1 Peter 2:9-10, MSG

“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For Your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:35-39, NLT

I Want to be Worthy of Your Love, Lord

Lord, Your love amazes me. Always has … always will. You look beyond my exterior and see straight into my heart — a heart that adores You, yet a heart that is not always pure, a heart that wrestles with the flesh and sometimes succumbs to the battle. I know I’m not worthy of Your love, but You say I am.

I want to be worthy of Your love, Lord

You have adopted me as Your child … You call me daughter. You tell me I am the apple of Your eye and that You take great pleasure in me, even though I fall short so often. Sometimes, I choose my will over Yours, I don’t seek You as I should and put other aspects of my life before You. No, these aren’t blatant sins, but it’s the small foxes that spoil the vines. Distractions. Attitudes. Putting myself before others.

Please forgive me. I want to be holy as You are holy. I want to be worthy to carry Your Name as a Christ-Bearer, to represent You well. Your word teaches that we all have been chosen for Your royal priesthood, to minister to You through our worship and praise. I don’t take the privilege of coming boldly before Your throne lightly.

I Want to be Worthy to Carry Your Name

For You are the Sovereign God over all of heaven and earth, Creator of all things. I’m amazed that You beckon me to come with the needs of my heart. Even when I know I’ve let You down by my complacency or my going-through-the-motions. You still call me to come because You love me and You want to restore my soul.

Find me faithful, Lord. I truly want to be worthy of such great love.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen ~ let it be so
