Sunlight blazed from the summer sky filling the earth with heaven’s light. The Spirit of God made His Presence known all about me as the gentle breeze whispered through the pines. Walking along our country road, I found refuge beneath His wing — the Father of Lights casting exquisite sunbeams through the canopy of interlocking pine, oak, and elm. Birds called from the treetops. White-tail deer sprinted from the creek into the forest’s safety.
Who Is This Father of Lights?
Creation declared His glory all about me — His glory is always proclaimed.
We just need to look and listen.
Stepping out from the shade of the canopy, the sunlight brightened, casting shadows all about me.
The Lord reminded me of a scripture I had read earlier in the day:
“Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change.” ~ James 1:17, TPT
No shadow of turning …
I studied the shadows, trying to understand what the Lord wanted me to see.
In my spirit a song arose and I began to sing,
“Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions they fail not —
As Thou hast been
Thou forever will be.” (Thomas Chisholm – 1925)
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever — His character or nature never changes.
He is who He says He is and He is wholly trustworthy to do what He says He will do.
He is faithful!
My life testifies of this Truth.
Cherish the Steadfast Watchcare of The Father of Lights
At the end of long, difficult days when shadows unfurl across your path, know this: the perfect shadow cast over you is the shadow of His Presence — not because He shifted positions, not because He is turning like the celestial balls that spin on their axis from day to night, from light to dark.
No! The shadow of His Presence is because of the steadfast watchcare of our Father of Lights.
Faithful. Sure. Trustworthy.
I turned for home, walking into the sun. I peered over my right shoulder at the shadow cast upon the country road. The Light of His Presence warmed my face. I closed my eyes and, once again, I thanked my Lord for His faithfulness.
