You are My Shield, O Lord
Father, from the depths of my heart I cry out to You … and You hear me. You are not only a shield, You are my shield — my protector and defender.
You are the Keeper of my soul.
Whenever I feel afraid of uncertain days, whenever anxiety overwhelms me, I remember … I remember that You, O Lord, are a shield about me, the glory and the lifter of my head. I picture Your love surrounding me, fully encompassed as I listen for Your songs of deliverance.
Oh, how I love to sing Your praise! The melodies stir within my soul as I look to You. As I speak Your lovely Name … Jesus … praise slips from my lips and I am helped.
I am strengthened in the storm.
I am made whole in Your presence.
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For You, Lord God, are a sun and a shield about me. No good thing do You withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Help me to always walk uprightly before You. I want to honor You with my life, to radiate Your love to those I encounter.
I Am Strengthened When I Consider Your Presence, Lord
When I consider that You are my shield — that it is in You that I live and move and have my being — I then remember that I am not alone. Your presence goes with me and I find rest, my heart is kept in peace, and I stand firm against the wiles of the enemy.
Glory to Your Name, O Lord! I exalt You and give You praise, for You alone deserve all praise.
