Lightning split the darkness with an explosion of light. Thunder rumbled and roared as if it were rolling the darkness away like a thick, ugly carpet. Rain peppered down. Wind howled. And just like that, the storm was gone. I realized that like a storm in the night, the Lord fights for us.

The sapphire blue of a late spring sky created a canopy above me as I walked along our country road. The intensity of color bathed me in thoughts of God’s Spirit, causing me to consider the One True God, Maker of heaven and earth. I desperately wanted to know how to find God’s reassurance.
I thought of His dwelling place — His throne of grace high above me in the heavenly places. I listened to His Holy Spirit within me offering comfort and resolution to pass through these troubled waters.
